2012 – December Meeting
Meeting Reports:
Meeting Announcements:
Rob announced the next president’s challenge for Feb 2013. Think of a turning you want to do, then draw a sketch first. Then turn the project from the sketch. Bring both to the Feb meeting. This will be an ongoing challenge according to Rob.
Joan Lech has purchased Ted Sokolowski’s excellent DVD on pepper mills for the library. Joan will be introducing a new system for checking out items from the library at the Jan 2013 meeting.
Rick Bryant reminded members to check out the projects page on the website. Members are encouraged to document a turning project with pictures and text. Put this in a Pdf file and send to Steve Reppert for inclusion on the site. Anyone having trouble entering the website should contact Steve for access. Again, thanks Steve for an excellent job in designing the website.
Ed introduced the items for the raffle. Remember, purchasing raffle tickets helps the club treasury and gives you a chance at some nice items. This month, we had wood blanks, gift certificates and a DVD.
Perpetual Turning:
The perpetual turning has gone over the “fiscal cliff”!! Tom Buchner has volunteered to revitalize this project by providing a bowl at January’s meeting. Remember, if you choose the perpetual turning in the raffle, you are responsible to bring one of your works to the next meeting. This is a great way to collect other member’s works for your personal collection.
Demonstration:
Demonstration by Brad Sears. Wood turning as a career.
