2013 – March Meeting

No new members or visitors.

 

Meeting Announcements:

 

President Rob Kingam discussed an effort to get 100% of our members as AAW members. AAW has donated two mini lathes to our club for the use of new members. They provide many other services to the local chapters. George Geissler volunteered to determine how many of our members are AAW members.

 

WoodTurning Fundamentals is a newsletter put out by AAW on months when there is no AAW magazine. Go to the website to sign up. Click on Resources, then Woodturning Fundamentals, on left side of page click on newsletters to look at archived articles or in middle of page sign up for the newsletter to come in an e-mail.

 

Tom Buchner announced Mark Gardner(markgardnerstudio.com) to demonstrate on Sat May 18. Cost is $35 to include lunch. Mark will demo turning hollow forms in 2 halves, a square bowl, and surface embellishment. Sign up early as space can be limited.

 

Butch announced that previous demonstrator, Liam O’Neill will be in area in Sept. Anyone interested in a 2/3 day course should contact Butch. Cost will be around $200-$250. 

 

Ed says the raffle contains poplar burl, walnut, ash,maple, cherry, and box elder blanks.  Gift certificates from Craft Supplies. 

 

Joan Lech mentions two new items. A book on turning chess pieces, and a DVD on metal inlay by Ted Sokolowski.

 

 

Perpetual Turning:

Perpetual turning was made by Mark Zettel and won by Sean Carson.
